We're super excited to be taking part in the 2018 Shitbox Rally which is run for such a worthy charity as the Cancer Council and to be raising funds to support cancer research.
WHAT'S IN A NAME (a note from Lyndal): My mother died from breast cancer and at her wake my brothers and I asked every guest to have gin in their drink .... we didn’t care if it was with soda, solo, straight or.... well let's face it.... tonic. My mother’s favourite drink was Gin & Tonic. That's a long time ago and thanks to cancer research over that time treatment has come a long way and has helped so many patients (including my own friends and family).
SUCH A GREAT CAUSE (a note from Liz): Cancer affects so many people, in so many ways………young, old, male, female, you, your partner, your child, your family, your friend, your work colleague……. it is unlikely that you haven’t been touched by cancer in some way. If we can do the tiniest bit to help prevent cancer, reduce the impact of the disease and/or support people suffering with cancer and their loved ones, then I’m up for it!
Any donation you can give is greatly appreciated, and you too can be part of the virtual G&T Team knowing you too have helped fund research for this terrible disease.
Please make sure to follow our progress...the first step is the purchase of our very own "Shitbox" - a car under $1,000 to drive the 3880km between Brisbane and Darwin over some pretty rough roads!

P.S. Let's be honest though .... we both love a good G&T also!

Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,500, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.
Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
$41 million over the past 13 years has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:
These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
